Senator Donley offered Amendment No. 1 : Page 1, line 8, following "corporations,": Insert "to motor vehicle insurance," Page 37, following line 8: Insert a new bill section to read: "* Sec. 60. AS 21.89.020 is amended by adding new subsections to read: (i) An insurance company offering automobile liability insurance in this state for injury to or destruction of property shall initially offer, in writing, to cover the insured person against medical expenses as a result of bodily injury or death resulting from the operation of a motor vehicle. An insured who declines coverage offered under this subsection shall, at the initial offer, sign a waiver of coverage. (j) An insurance company providing comprehensive coverage for loss or damage to a motor vehicle shall, as a part of the comprehensive coverage, provide coverage for at least 75 percent of the cost of replacing a malfunctioning safety belt in the covered motor vehicle. Coverage provided under this subsection is in addition to coverage for direct and accidental loss of or damage to the motor vehicle."
